The Transmission
What if the soul is information, and information doesn't die? ✨
Dr. Stuart Hameroff, an anesthesiologist at the University of Arizona's Center for Consciousness Studies, and Sir Roger Penrose, the Nobel-winning physicist, built a theory called Orch-OR (Orchestrated Objective Reduction). Their idea: consciousness rises out of quantum effects inside microtubules, tiny protein tubes that run through every brain cell like scaffolding.
Hameroff took it one step further, toward near-death experiences and the soul:

"Let's say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state. The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can't be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large. Real talk: Orch-OR is controversial and unproven. Many physicists and neuroscientists doubt that delicate quantum states can last in the warm, wet brain, and Hameroff's soul idea is speculation, not settled science. We hold it as a spark for reflection, not a lab result.

Torah Connection

"The soul of man is the lamp of Hashem" (Mishlei / Proverbs 20:27). The Torah called the soul light long before anyone looked inside a neuron. A flame can be moved, hidden or shared, but light itself is never the problem. The question is only the vessel.
That's the shape of techiyat hameitim, the resurrection of the dead: the soul returns to the body. The revived patient is a tiny picture of it: the information goes out, then comes back into the vessel. In the geulah, that return happens for everyone, for good. Lamp back in the lantern. LEHGO. 🕯️
Glow Practice · The Lamp Breath
About 2 minutes. Sit or stand. Eyes soft.
- Light the lamp. Breathe in slow through the nose for 4. Picture a small gold flame in the center of your chest.
- Let it go wide. Breathe out for 6. See the light spread past your skin, cyan and violet, filling the room, then the sky. Nothing is lost, it just gets bigger.
- Bring it home. Breathe in once more and gather the light back into the chest. Whisper: "My light can't be destroyed." Repeat 3 rounds.
