The Carousel

  1. Cover: the Gate Sigil with the Hebrew גְּאֻלָּה and the title "Out of the narrow place."
  2. Transmission: Shemot 6:7 in Hebrew and English; Mitzrayim and meitzarim share letters; from mochin d'katnut to mochin d'gadlut, a dirah b'tachtonim.

  4. Invocation: Tanya ch. 47, going out of Egypt every day, and a short prayer: "Hashem, take me out from under what weighs on me."

The Transmission

Out of the narrow place. Today. ⚡

Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), Egypt, shares its letters with meitzarim (מְצָרִים): narrow straits, limits. So the Exodus isn't only history. It's a move you can make this morning.

Shemot 6:7: "You will know that I am Hashem your G-d, who brings you out from under the burdens of Egypt." In phEEnix's drash notes for Vaeira, that "knowing" is the shift from mochin d'katnut (constricted awareness) to mochin d'gadlut (expanded awareness), so Hashem can dwell right down here with us: a dirah b'tachtonim.

The Alter Rebbe makes it daily. In Tanya ch. 47 he teaches that in every generation, and every day, a person should see themselves as going out of Egypt today. And the Lubavitcher Rebbe's message is that the Geulah isn't somewhere far off. Every step out of a meitzar is a taste of it now. ✨
